Career planning is most effective when integrated with vocational assessment. Employment is most successful when job demands correspond with an individual’s abilities and skills. CVES, Inc. provides objective vocational assessment information to assist a person in focusing on a realistic vocational direction.
All professional staff are trained graduate level Evaluators with years of experience in providing objective assessments through the use of standardized instruments and techniques. Our reports reflect concise answers to the questions asked in the referral with needs being addressed in realistic terms.
The vocational evaluation process provides information
on an individual’s:
- Vocational interests
- Skills, abilities and aptitudes
- Physical capacities and limitations as they relate to employment
- Realistic vocational options
- Training, education, placement needs
- Potential workplace accommodations
This is done through formal testing, interviewing, behavioral observations and a review of information as it relates to employment or a specific job. Formal testing may include:
- Vocational interest inventories
- Achievement and aptitude tests
- Dexterity and coordination instruments
- Work sample and job tasks
- Observations
- Interviews
CVES, Inc. provides varying levels of Vocational Evaluations and several additional services, depending on the depth and scope of information needed.
Transferable Skills Analysis: review and analyze an individual’s previous training and successful employment to determine demonstrated skills and abilities that can be transferred to an alternate occupation.
Minimal Vocational Evaluation: career testing or job readiness for a specific vocational focus, which may include confirmation of interests, academic skills, vocational aptitudes, and physical coordination/dexterity.
Moderate Vocational Evaluation: career testing, which may include determination of interests, academic skills, vocational aptitudes, nonverbal reasoning, physical coordination/dexterity and observed work behaviors.
Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation: career testing, which may include determination of interests, academic skills, vocational aptitudes, nonverbal reasoning, work tasks related to specific vocations, physical coordination/dexterity, observed work behaviors, and work tolerance and endurance.
Job Analysis: identification of specific work components within a job to develop a profile of abilities and skills needed for successful performance.
Career Exploration: review possible career options identified through vocational evaluation to help an individual focus and understand their vocational future.
Psychological Evaluation: utilizes clinical assessment instruments and interview techniques to identify an individual's intellectual capacity and psychological issues that will be assets and barriers to them in the achievement of their vocational goals. Provides recommendations to the individual and referral source on how to maximize the individual's potential.
Independent Living Assessment: an in-depth look at an individual’s living environment and daily living needs.
Residence issues addressed include: accessibility, safety, maintenance, adaptations, etc.
Daily living issues addressed include: independence, transportation, communication, nutrition, socialization, hygiene, etc. Recommendations are then made based on the information gathered.
